Aer Lingus gets the green light to resume flights to the US

Aer Lingus has received clearance from UK Civil Aviation Authority to serve US destinations of New York JFK and Orlando from Manchester Airport in England from September 30 and the Barbados flight in October. Similarly, it is set to launch a flight to Boston in summer 2022.

After the wide speculation over the resume date of flights from Manchester to New York JFK and Orlando, UK CAA has now approved the start of Aer Lingus’ transatlantic services between Manchester and the US. The Irish Carrier’s subsidiary Aer Lingus (UK) Ltd. is launching its flight to JFK and MCO from September 30. The ratification of UK-US flight lays under Irish Nation Flag Carrier’s strategy to add base at Manchester airport. The launch date of flights on the US sector, due to begin on July 29, was delayed due to the delays in the reopening of international travel. The plan to open a new Manchester base was postponed as the airline stated about the late opening of the international border. So, as per its official announcement approved by British regulators, the airline is now committed to its US services from Manchester. The airline will deploy four aircraft officially destined for the Republic’s airport in the US and Barbados sector. The British aviation regulators have granted an operating license to Aer Lingus UK to undertake the transatlantic scheduled passenger services between the UK and the US.

The airline is set to seek opportunities left behind by the collapse of its rival Thomas Cook in 2019.

In July, the government relaxed travel bans on European Union air traffic, but the restriction still persists for the passengers arriving from the US and Britain. US travel restrictions remain in place from the EU and UK but can be lifted in September by the Federal Government.

With its base in MAN, the North of England, Aer Lingus has a strategy of expanding this base into the major transatlantic gateway. There are additional plans to add North American destinations, bring new aircraft into the fleet, and fill the market gap in passenger demand.

Regarding Aer Lingus Manchester-Barbados Flight

The non-stop flight between Manchester and Barbados is scaled to be three weekly operations, served by Airbus A330 aircraft.

Aer Lingus is excited to commence high-quality, non-stop business and leisure travel flights across the North of England at a reasonable price. Aer Lingus has stated applicable rates in economy class (one way) in the following routes:

  • MAN-MCO=25000 Avios (down to 16250 in autumn and winter)

Aer Lingus transatlantic flight benefits customers

With the resume of Aer Lingus flight from the UK to the US, travelers in the Northwest will benefit from new non-stop service and extra Avios, gaining chance and ease to travel to JFK and MCO without the need to go to London at the beginning. North America has been the airline’s destination for more than 60 years, and they also have a proud history of regular flights between Emerald Isle and the UK for years.
