“We are thrilled to provide Northern Colorado with more options and convenience in air travel, as well as the Avelo Soul of Service,” said Andrew Levy, Chairman, and CEO of Avelo. “Fort Collins and Loveland now have direct access to the finest of Southern California through the region’s most accessible airport, thanks to the launch of this unique direct service to Los Angeles. It’s never been easier or more economical to travel to LA.
Avelo is the sole scheduled carrier that flies nonstop between Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) in Los Angeles and Monterey Regional Airport in Monterey, California (MRY). The Hollywood Burbank Airport is around 9 miles from Hollywood and 3 miles from downtown Burbank.
Flights will begin on October 6 and continue on Wednesdays and Saturdays for $49 one-way, with Flight XP132 departing Loveland at 11:15 a.m. and arriving in Burbank at 12:40 p.m. local time, and Flight XP131 is departing Burbank at 7:10 a.m. and arriving in Loveland at 10:35 a.m. local time on each of those days. According to the press release, the route will be handled by a 189-seat Boeing 737-800. Starting at $11, Avelo planes offer 60 seats with up to 9 inches of extra legroom.
FNL Director Jason Licon was garnished following the partnership with Avelo airlines, as he said, “We know customers are looking for economical, convenient travel options, and Avelo Airlines has shown a willingness to partner with smaller, more convenient airports like ours to make that happen. It will be an ultra-low-cost service, so perhaps it will encourage people here to travel that they might not have considered otherwise, and we want to see some reciprocity with people coming to see us.”
As the airport was having problems with the airlines following air traffic control, there were not many routes connecting the airlines to the airport. However, after some years, it got fixed. “One of the factors that enabled this to happen was our new state-of-the-art air traffic control,” Licon adds, emphasizing the project’s success due to state and municipal funding. This significantly increases our attractiveness to carriers like this. We’re ecstatic to be able to provide commercial aviation service regularly.“
In addition to L.A., Avelo Airlines will begin flying to 12 other high-demand locations from Burbank in the coming months, including Phoenix, Las Vegas, Chicago, Seattle, Minneapolis, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Phoenix, Las Vegas, Chicago, Seattle, Minneapolis, and the San Francisco Bay Area are among the other popular destinations for Northern Colorado people. If this first route is successful, the airport will consider adding flights to those destinations.
On Mondays and Fridays, starting September 17, Avelo Airlines will fly between Burbank and Provo. Flights between Burbank and Monterey will begin on September 30 and run on Thursdays and Sundays. On October 6, flights to Fort Collins-Loveland will begin. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, Avelo will travel to Fort Collins-Loveland. Finally, from October 7, flights to St George will be available on Thursdays and Sundays.
