Two weekly flights
The airline stated earlier today that it would resume service on the route with a twice-weekly flight. The flights will be operated by the Boeing 777 -300ER, the smaller of the carrier’s two aircraft types. The route will be served by this aircraft until August. Then The Airbus A380, the company’s flagship, will begin service on the route on August 1. For the time being, it looks that the A380 trip will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays, just as the smaller 777. Emirates would conduct flights to Mauritius on Thursdays and Saturdays, and return flights on Fridays and Sundays.
A380 Role
Emirates said that it would continue to expand its A380 fleet “in response to the sustained recovery in demand.” The A380 serves New York JFK, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Toronto, Paris, Munich, Vienna, Frankfurt, Moscow, Amman, Cairo, and Guangzhou.
According to Emirates, the plane will depart from Dubai International Airport at 02:35 a.m. on flight EK 701. The nighttime flight is set to arrive in Mauritius at 09:10 a.m. The plane will be on the ground for about 14 hours before departing at 23:10. It will depart Mauritius at 23:10hrs And will return to Dubai at 05:45 the next day, for a total rotation time of 27 hours and 10 minutes.
Last month, the country stated that from July 15, it would reopen its borders to fully vaccinated travelers and Mauritian nationals. From July 15 to September 30, Mauritius is set reopen its ports to vaccinated travelers and Mauritian citizens. Fully vaccinated visitors can enjoy a quiet and safe vacation at one of the island’s pre-approved COVID-19 safe resorts located throughout the island. They just need to show confirmation of vaccination and travel insurance with proper Covid-19 coverage, and a negative Covid-19 PCR test is taken between five and seven days before departure.
Passengers should have their Covid tests on arrival at the airport, waiting for the results transferring straight to the hotels, which takes between 6 and 12 hours. Guests staying for a week or longer must take tests on days 7 and 14. Those who remain longer will be allowed to travel outside of their resort if their day 14 test results are negative.
Mauritius will welcome fully vaccinated visitors on October 1, allowing them to tour the island freely. Vaccinated visitors will simply need to provide a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of leaving and will be free to walk around the island.
