The first commercial flight of Helvetic Airways brand new Embraer E195-E2 with registration HB-AZI took place today. Zurich Airport and Bern-Belp Airport will be connected by flight 2L195. As part of their new base’s opening at the trinational hub, they placed the aircraft at EuroAirport Basel – Mulhouse – Freiburg this afternoon.

The first cargo flight from Natal and Gran Canaria arrived in Zurich at 17:23 local time. After a delivery trip of about 9000 kilometers and 11.5 hours, their new arrival arrived at its new Zurich Airport on June 25, 17:23. It was also quite environmentally friendly throughout. Their new “Green Machine” uses 25% less fuel per seat than its predecessor, the E195-E1, resulting in about 3 000 tonnes less CO2 emissions per aircraft per year.

Helvetic Airways, a Swiss regional airline with its fleet stationed at Zurich Airport (ZRH), founded in 2003, received the first of four new Embraer E195-E2s, the largest aircraft in the Embraer E-Jet E2 program, on June 23, 2021. The ownership transfer was done at Sa José dos Campos, Brazil, the headquarters of the Brazilian aircraft company. Due to the present coronavirus issue, the event was held virtually.
Helvetic Airways’ fleet now consists of four Embraer 190s, eight E190-E2s, and four E195-E2s, all of which previously flew for Niki. The new Helvetic Airways Embraer E195-E2; Helvetic Airways’ further expansion will primarily serve European destinations. On Saturday, July 10, HB-AZI would make its maiden commercial flight from Basel to Santorini, Greece (flights 2L 306 and 2L 307). Helvetic Airways will have one of Europe’s greenest and most modern regional aircraft fleets starting in late July. It will be the ideal aircraft for a Swiss regional airline in Switzerland and Europe as efficiently and effectively as possible with its 16 Embraer E190-E1s, E190-E2s, and E195-E2s.

About The E195-E2
The largest aircraft in the Embraer E-Jet E2 series is 41.6 meters in length, with a 35.1-meter wingspan and an MTOM of 61.5 tons. It has a passenger capacity of 134, which is 24 higher than the smaller E190-E2. With its two new-generation Pratt & Whitney engines, The E2 uses 25% less fuel than the previous model E195, saving roughly 3,000 tonnes of CO2 per aircraft per year. Additionally, nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions were reduced by 30 percent. With the acquisition of four E195-E2s, Helvetic Airways will become one of Europe’s largest Embraer E-Jet E2 operators.
The plane, like the E190-E2, is ICAO Chapter 14 approved. The Embraer E190-E2 has also been approved for Slope Approach flights at London City Airport. The EASA approved this on May 11. As a Swiss carrier, Helvetic Airways is delighted to have an aircraft capable of flying to the most demanding and other European locations.
The new flagship of Helvetic Airways has a range of 4,815 kilometers, which enables it to service a wide variety of European and international destinations.
