Frontier Airlines: 27 years of flying
The airline was founded in Denver in 1994 and took over from the previous Frontier Airlines, which operated from 1950 until 1986.
The airline’s initial emphasis was on interconnecting Denver to locations in the Western United States and the Midwest. As the airline expanded during the 2000s, it started growing. Boeing 737 operations characterized frontier’s early years, but the airline began operating Airbus aircraft shortly before the twenty-first century.
Indeed, Frontier Airlines was the inaugural client for the Airbus A318, the Airbus A320ceo family’s smallest variant. The airline was able to phase out the Boeing 737s with the assistance of the Airbus A320ceo series of aircraft.
Frontier Airlines filed for bankruptcy protection in 2008. Republic Airways chose to bid for the airline’s assets when it emerged from bankruptcy. This raised questions at Southwest Airlines, which also made an acquisition offer for Frontier Airlines.
The airline now operates 109 aircraft in total, including Airbus A319s (3), A320/A320neos (85), and A321s (21).

Additionally, Frontier Airlines added flights to Costa Rica and St. Maarten to its 33 direct flights from Miami beginning in July. Frontier Airlines conducted its formal first flight to Nassau, the new Bahamas destination to which it operated nonstop service from Miami from July 4.
The Bahamas welcomes the @FlyFrontier inaugural flight. Frontier will be operating direct flights from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Nassau (NAS) and will be available four times a week starting July 2021.
