United Airlines has taken the delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8

United Airlines has taken the delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 earlier this week, on Sunday, June 27, as part of its 40 MAX 8s order. However, the commitment for the Boeing 737 MAX 8 has now increased to 90.

United’s first MAX 8, with registration N27251, departed Boeing Field (BFI), Seattle, as flight UA2708 at 9:49 local time, arriving at New York’s Newark Airport at 17:30 local time, after a ferry flight of 4 hours and 46 minutes.


The Chicago-based carrier has scheduled the Boeing MAX 8 flights from mid-July. The 737 MAX 8 will operate its inaugural flight between Houston and Newark on July 15.


The 737 MAX 8 will then be based at Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and will operate daily flights between Houston and Las Vegas starting the same afternoon on July 15.


United’s MAX 8 are configured in a two-class configuration, with 16 seats in the first-class cabin and 150 in the economy class cabin. Out of 150 economy class seats, these brand new jets will feature 54 economy plus seats. United is aiming to operate 13 MAX 8 jets by the end of this year.
On Tuesday this week, the Chicago-based airline ordered 270 Airbus and Boeing aircraft worth up to $33 billion in list prices, comprising 150 Boeing MAX 10s, 50 MAX 8s, and 70 Airbus A321neos.
