Man Hurt after jumping From an Airplane Taxiing At Los Angeles Airport

Officials conclude a man was hurt Friday after falling from a taxiing aircraft at Los Angeles International Airport.
According to with Los Angeles Airport Police Department, a United Express flight chartered by SkyWest Airlines began taxiing away from the gate area at about 7:10 p.m. At the same time, a traveler unlocked the plane’s hatch and disembarked onto the taxiway.

The traveler remained seated till the aircraft began taxiing down the runway, at which point he started pounding on the cockpit door, as per the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The guy tried to penetrate the cockpit before unlocking “the escape door and [running away] the aircraft through the evacuation slide,” a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said.

Airport police officers and firefighters arrived quickly, and the guy was assessed on-scene for unspecified injuries while being transported to a nearby hospital.

According to authorities, no one was harmed aboard the aircraft while the airplane was allowed to taxi back to the gate area.

About the Flight

The aircraft was initially scheduled to depart Los Angeles International Airport at 6:55 p.m. for Salt Lake City. However, the flight has been postponed to 9:15 p.m. The remaining passengers boarded a flight from LAX to Salt Lake City at 10:36 p.m.
