From early August, Qatar Airways will add Zambia and Zimbabwe to its growing list of African cities, extending its award-winning service to two key southern African locations.
A Boeing 787 Dreamliner will operate the new route between Lusaka and Harare. In addition, it will link Zambian and Zimbabwean passengers to Qatar Airways’ global network of over 140 destinations. With the introduction of these two additional routes, the airline’s weekly flight schedule would increase to over 100 to 27 locations in Africa.

His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, stated: “Africa remains to be a significant growth market for Qatar Airways, and the introduction of this operation will assist in the expansion of the economies and tourist sectors in both nations.”
“Not only are we rebuilding our networks after the epidemic, but we are also aggressively extending it with the inclusion of these two critical destinations. These are the fifth and sixth additional locations in Africa introduced to our network because the outbreak began, bringing our total to ten.”
Lusaka and Harare’s debut also promotes an increasing market for business across Zambia and Zimbabwe with Qatar Airways’ network destinations such as London, Frankfurt, and New York and various locations in China. In addition, Qatar Airways Cargo, with a total cargo capacity of 30 tonnes each flight, would play a critical role in enabling important exporters from Zambia and Zimbabwe.
