Aer Lingus postponed the launch of its new transatlantic flights

Aer Lingus has postponed the launch of its new transatlantic flights between Manchester and the United States, citing delays in the reopening of international travel amid the pandemic.


The airline was had planned to commence the service from Manchester to New York JFK and Orlando on July 29. However, the carrier has now postponed the launch to September 30.

However, its Manchester to Barbados service will be commenced as planned on October 20 later this year. In a statement, the airline said:
“Due to international borders opening later than expected, Aer Lingus is postponing the start of new transatlantic services between Manchester, New York JFK, and Orlando.”

Aer Lingus will operate the A321LR single-aisle aircraft between the US and the UK.
The airline said that it would remain fully committed to its service from Manchester to the United States. The airline apologizes for the inconvenience caused to customers.
An airline spokesperson also said the passengers who had booked the flights are being contacted. The airline will offer a full refund, re-accommodation on an alternative flight, or a travel voucher to those passengers.
