Qatar Airways has concluded a codeshare deal to fly between Doha and Toronto with Air Canada. The first codeshare service run by Qatar Airways started operating on 15 December 2020. The agreement confirms the long-term commitment of Qatar Airways to Canadian travelers and strengthens Canada’s global accessibility to help travel and market restoration.
Qatar Airways travelers can now experience smooth, one-stop connectivity to and from Toronto through Hamad International Airport. Air Canada travelers would gain from the fact to book travel between Toronto and Doha on Qatar Airways flights, including more than 75 destinations throughout Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
Through three week services to Montreal, Qatar Airways started operating to Canada in June 2011 and extended to four weekly flights in December 2018. In connection to charter flights to Vancouver, the carrier has collaborated extensively with the Government of Canada and its diplomats across the world during the pandemic, briefly running three weekly routes to Toronto to help carry over 40,000 travelers home to Canada.
The massive decision of Qatar Airways in a range of fuel-efficient, twin-engine aircraft, such as the largest fleet of Airbus A350 aircraft, also allowed Qatar Airways to keep flying during this downturn and placed it ideally to lead the sustained recovery of international travel. Three additional state-of-the-art Airbus A350-1000 aircraft were recently introduced to the carrier, raising its overall A350 fleet to 52 via a mean lifespan of only 2.6 years. The airline has grounded its fleet of Airbus A380s attributed to the impact of COVID-19 on air traffic, as it is not economically justifiable to fly such a big four-engine aircraft in the current economy. However, a new regime that requires travelers to directly reduce the carbon pollution involved with the travel at the point of booking has recently been unveiled by Qatar Airways.
Qatar Airways intends to expand its service to 126 destinations by both the end of the IATA Winter Season, covering 20 in Africa, 11 throughout the Americas, 42 as in Asia-Pacific, 38 across Europe, and 15 in the Middle East. With consistent scheduling with regular or more frequencies, several towns can be covered.
