Air service from Dhangadhi-Bajura, which had been withdrawn almost 20 years ago, has officially started. The air service, which was withdrawn when the civil war started, has resumed.
On Friday, Summit Air commenced weekly flights from Dhangadhi, the far-west state capital, to Kolti Airport in Bajura. Summit Air flew from Kolti to Dhangadhi and from Dhangadhi to Kolti, said Khum Prasad Poudel, Civil Aviation Office’s acting chief, Bajura.
Twenty years ago, a direct flight from Kolti in Bajura to Dhangadhi, the far-western province’s capital, interrupted air connectivity to Dhangadhi after the airport was targeted during the conflict. Although Bajura was linked by air to Nepalgunj, it was not linked to the capital of province 7. Locals conveyed excitement after Bajura was in the air service connecting to Dhangadhi.

Janesh Bhandari, the coordinator of the Civil Service Government Forum Bajura, said that demand for air connectivity with Dhangadhi, the capital of Bajura, rose at the grassroots level since last year he was pleased with the launch of the service. As Bajura is linked by air to Dhangadhi, it is expected that it will be easier for the people to travel to the capital of the Province 7. The formerly unpaved Kolti airport was just blacked out last year.
