Qatar and Etihad send Cargo essentials to Nepal

In response to coronavirus (COVID-19), Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways have expanded their reach with the addition of special freighter flights to Nepal.

The wide-body A330 of Qatar ‘A7- AEA’ Flight No QR3481 had departed Hamad International Airport at 09:10 A. M. and landed at TIA at around 03:40 P. M. today. Likewise, the wide body of Etihad ‘A6-EYP’ Flight No. EY292 has departed from Abu Dhabi International Airport at 11:30 AM. and is scheduled to Land TIA at around 04:30 P.M. Both the flights are carrying Cargo essentials to Nepal.

According to the source, Qatar Airways has delivered 8156 KG of the consignment of assorted which was gifted by the Government of Qatar to Government of Nepal.

The government of Nepal has also been suspending domestic and international flights as well, regularly to control the movement of people from one place to another.

During the flight suspension, Nepal has not allowed international flights on its sky except for those which arrived for humanitarian grounds. A number of foreign airlines arrived in Nepal to evacuate foreign nationals from Nepal after Nepal enforced flight suspensions. Domestic airlines recently mobilized to evacuate foreign nationals who were stranded in different parts of the country after the nationwide lockdown was imposed since March 24.

It is the third time that the Government of Nepal extended the deadline of international flight suspension after first imposing the measure from March 22 to March 31. Earlier, the government had decided to extend the deadline of international flight suspension until April 15, which was further extended till April 30.
