Leading ATR operator of the country Buddha Air has made an emergency medical evacuation flight to Dhaka, Bangladesh today. The carrier with its ATR 42 aircraft ‘9N-AIT’ returned back Kathmandu same day today before an hour ago with a severely ill Nepal student residing in Bangladesh. The student and others had been stranded at Bangladesh due to lockdown imposed countrywide by Nepal Government for COVID-19 prevention.
On April 14, Buddha Air with same aircraft had flew to Dhaka to evacuate 13 Bengali students from Nepal to Bangladesh. Buddha Air also conducted evacuation flights to Pokhara nationally after the lock down.
The medical evacuation flight was made with a special permission obtained from the aviation authority of Nepal as all the national and international flights gave been suspended. The national as well as all the regular international flights have been banned in Nepal until May 15.
