For the first time in the country’s aviation history, an aircraft owned by a Nepalese private company is flying to Sudan directly today. The mission is being carried out despite this hard time only for the sole purpose of withdrawing the human remains of Lt. Col. Ridesh Bista who passed away during his appointment there in a United Nations Peace Keeping Force Mission.
A Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft ‘9N-AMB’ of Shree Airlines is flying to Khartoum International Airport, Sudan from Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu via Technical stop at Muscat International Airport in Oman today. The flight took off the Tribhuvan International Airport at 07:47 A.M. today and the total journey will take around 7 hours one way.
This, however, will not be a regular flight as the country has suspended international flights in its bid to control the coronavirus infection in the country the Nepalese Army and United Nation has charted the flight of Shree Airlines to evacuate human remains of Late. Lt. Col. Ridesh Bista. Because of the lockdown imposed in multiple countries the approval for the flight took the time of 2 weeks. The army officer had passed away on Chaitra 17 and its been 12 days now when the aircraft has departed to collect his body.
The flight will be conducted in command of Nepalese Captain Prajwal Adhikhari, Capt. Rajesh Shrestha, Capt. Ritesh Karn, First Officer Suraj Sigdel including Er. Moataz Mohammed Nasher Taher (Yemen) and Technician Mr. Bhuban Krishna Maharjan on board without any other passengers.
