Rajan Pokhrel appointed as Director General of CAAN

The government has elected Rajan Pokhrel as Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). Council of Ministers meeting held on last Thursday took decision to make Pokhrel DG of the authority.

Pokhrel is the 13th DG of the corporation and will be serving 4 year term at CAAN.

Former Director General Sanjiv Gautam tenure ended on May end and the post was vacant since then.

Alongside Pokhrel, Deputy Director General, Devanand Upadhyaya was in race to be the Director General.

Pokhrel received the appointment letter on Friday and stated to work for overall development of aviation sector along with air safety and infrastructural development for aviation in Nepal.

Collaborating with air service provider of the country and making improvement in Nepali aviation sector along with bringing under-construction international airport into operation along with strengthening domestic airport will be the priority, he added.

He also stated that removing Nepal from European Union (EU) blacklist, continuing the development of country’s aviation sector and making it more effective and improvement in the authority.
