Honorable Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli is set to return back to Nepal today afternoon after taking part in oath-taking ceremony of newly re-elected Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) are expected to be disrupted for 35 minutes during VVIP arrival. TIA has published Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) during the time.
PM Oli’s flight is scheduled to land at 5:45 PM and TIA has stated to halt flights 15 minutes prior to his arrival and 20 minutes after his arrival. There will be no flights during that time.
PM Oli departed to India yesterday to take part in Indian counterpart oath taking ceremony and flights were also disrupted yesterday afternoon as well.
Passengers have been affected by NOTAM as their flights will be delayed by it and on Thursday passenger had protested against it.
During the VVIP Movement, no flights will be allowed to take-off or land. During this time the airport will be completely closed due to the security reason for VVIP flight. Passengers and people have been criticizing about this trend of holding flights during VVIP departure and arrival mostly due to the air traffic and road traffic reaching to peak during this kind of movement.
However, this trend continues as it has been said to be a standard practice that could not be changed.
