Tourism season to Kailash Mansarovar has started from the beginning of this month of May and private helicopter operator operating to Hilsa has started night stay of chopper at Simikot airport.
Simikot Airport located on Hilsa Region of the northwest of Nepal has been facing high air traffic as tourist and visitors have been increasing daily.
Mostly pilgrimage tourists from India have been chartering helicopter for flight to Hilsa and the helicopter operators have been night staying at Simikot airport before heading towards Hilsa.
Officials at Simikot stated that passengers and tourists will be arriving within couple of days and private helicopter operators have started coming for night stay at the airport. Around dozens of helicopter from private companies will make night stay at the airport stated the official.
The airport will be facing high air traffic with the start of the season.
Private airline, Sita Air has also started shipping fuel at Simikot Airport for Helicopter that operate in Simikot-Hilsa Sector. They started shipping fuel for ease in operation for helicopter in the sector.
Sita air has started shipping fuel from Nepalgunj airport and will allocate 1 flight daily for shipping the fuel. The process is set to be continued throughout the season.
Simikot Airport is the gateway to the Hilsa Helipad which is the entry point for visitors travelling to sacred Mansarovar region.
Kailash Tour via Simikot is an excellent journey to Mt. Kailash which is one of the best trekking destinations in the remote western part of Nepal. Mansarovar is a well-known as the holy site for Hindus.
Hilsa is a small town located on the northwestern region of Nepal in Humla near the borders Tibet, China and where the Karnali crosses from the Tibetan Plateau. Simikot airport is located at an elevation of 9,246 ft (2,818 m) above mean sea level. The airport has Single asphalt runway of length of 549 meters on an elevation of 9,747 feet aligned to 0100 degrees and 280 degrees serving as one of the country’s busiest domestic Airport these days.
