The private airline company, Buddha Air has planned to construct hangar at Pokhara Regional International Airport.
According to the strategy to commence international flights from Pokhara International Airport, the carrier has forward the plan of constructing hangar.
A hangar is a closed building structure to hold aircraft, or spacecraft.
The carrier inaugurated the hangar at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on April 19, 2012. Likewise, Yeti Airlines, Nepalese Army and Nepal Airlines Corporation have also their own hangars at TIA.
Among them, Buddha Air’s hangar has full potential and a state of the art closed door hangar that is part 145 Aircraft Maintenance Organization from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).
Rupesh Joshi, Marketing Director of Buddha Air stated that Pokhara International Airport’s hangar will be capable to accommodate Airbus-319 aircraft.
The Airbus A319 is a member of the Airbus A320 family of short- to medium-range, narrow-body, commercial passenger twin-engine jet airliners manufactured by Airbus and carries up to 160 passengers.
After the hangar construction is completed, the company plans to commence international flights by making Pokhara International Airport base hub.
“So according to that, we are preparing to construct hangar and demanding land for it,” Joshi informed.
Buddha Air has already received the approval for international flights.
The carrier will be adding an additional ATR-72 aircraft to its fleet by July 31, 2019.
ATR is a Franco-Italian aircraft manufacturer company.
The carrier owns three ATR 42-320 and seven ATR 72-500 aircraft in its fleet.
The airlines is providing services to Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa, Bharatpur, Simara, Janakpur, Biratnagar, Bhadrapur, Pokhara, Dhangadi and Tumlingtar from TIA along with Mountain Flights as well as flights to Indian city Varanasi. Buddha Air celebrated its completion of 21 years of service in Nepali Aviation Market last year with ATR company officials.
Established on 23 April 1996, with a fleet of a Beech-craft 1900D manufactured by Raytheon Aircraft (now Hawker Beech-craft), Buddha Air is the largest domestic airline operator of Nepal.
