The cyclone Fani formed in Bay of Bengal has affected the domestic flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
One of the TIA’s officials stated that entire domestic flights were disrupted at around 10 AM after the impact of the cyclone and it is unpredictable to tell when the flight operations will resume.
However, international flights are in operations.
Similarly, the aircraft of US Bangla Airlines which was scheduled to land at TIA had to stay in hold for around half an hour. Two flights of Buddha Air have fly back to Jhapa and Biratnagar.
The National Emergency Operations Center of the Home Ministry has already appealed the helicopter companies not to operate flights at Eastern Himalayan region saying that there is a possibility of snowfall.
In general, the IFR rules make take off and landing.
There need to be visibility of 5000 meters in VFR and 2000 meters visibility for Kathmandu and 2500 meters visibility for out of valley are required in IFR.
