Nepal airlines corporation, national flag carrier is preparing to increase flight frequencies to New Delhi, India.
The corporation operating 11 flights in a week, will add 3 flights from May 1, 2019.
According to NAC Assistant Spokesperson, Nawaraj Koirala, the corporation will operate 2 flights daily after adding 3 flights to Delhi.
In the morning, NAC will operate with its narrow body aircraft having 158 seat capacity and the second flight will be operated by widebody aircraft having 278 seat capacity.
Previously, the corporation operated flights with it’s narrow body but switched to wide body aircraft from April 1, 2019.
Koirala stated that the corporation has been operating 1 flight daily with it’s widebody after Tribhuvan International Airport remained close for 10 hours daily.
According to him, the corporation has added 3 flights to Delhi after Jet airways announced temporary shut down.
Indian airline company, Jet Airways have cancelled all international flights operation.
According to officials at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Jet Airways has sent a letter to the TIA authority informing about the flight halt till the given date. Raj Kumar Chhetri, General Manager of TIA stated that “The airline company has mentioned that the regular flights have been cancelled due to ‘operational’ reasons.”
Of 29 different international airline companies operating flights to and from Kathmandu, Jet Airways had been operating two flights everyday in Nepal (Kathmandu-Delhi and Delhi-Kathmandu). As per Chhetri, though Jet Airways had been operating four flights regularly to Kathmandu few months ago, the airlines had reduced the number of its regular flights to Kathmandu in the recent weeks.
Currently, the corporation has been taking Rs 9000 for general seats, Rs 31000 for economy class and Rs 36000 for business class. All seats have been booked till April of NAC following increase in domestic and Indian tourists.
The corporation informed that air ticket prices have not increased as all seats were booked before Jet airways halting it’s services.
Currently, Air India has been operating 2 flights daily fro Kolkata and Delhi to Kathmandu whereas Durk air of Bhutan has been operating 3 flights weekly.
