Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) is preparing to repaint the international terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). This project is going to be initiated as a part of converting TIA into a boutique airport.
The international terminal will be repainted with silica paint for which CAAN has already announced tender. Beside this, the waste management will also be taken into account as informed by the airport chief Raj Kumar Chhetri.
The international terminal of TIA is constructed with Chinese bricks and the paint is fading away. So, CAAN is preparing for new paint.
Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has already made various strategies to make TIA a boutique airport. The ministry is focusing on completing the project as soon as possible.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced the initiation of converting TIA to a boutique airport on 1st Baisakh, 2076.
This boutique airport project is desperate for TIA. Nepal has made target to welcome over 2 million tourists via the project ‘Visit Nepal Year 2020’ for which renovation of airport and quality service is must.
At present, TIA remains busy and unmanaged due to hectic air traffic congestion, inadequate parking spaces, lack of proper airport facilities, waste management, fickle security and many more. So, air transport capacity enhancement and airport renovation project is must to attract projected amount of tourists by the year 2020 AD.
