Juphal airport in Dolpa which had been out of operation since last 4 days due to snowfall has resumed its operation.
The airport came into operation from Saturday after snow from the airport runway was removed on Friday.
The airport operation halted due to heavy rainfall which started last Tuesday night. After the rainfall, the airport runway was blocked by around 4-5 foot thick snow halting the flight operation to the airport.
The snow was removed with the joint effort from Thuliveri Municipality and locals by using human resource and dozers to bring the airport back in operation.
Yesterday all the airlines operating to airport conducted the flights from Neplagunj airport.
Around 3 dozens of passengers travelling to Nepalgunj and Surkhet were stuck at the airport due to closure of airport.
Juphal Airport is the only airport in Dolpa district that has been providing flight operations since 42 years and came into operation lately after several closure.
At present Nepal Airlines conducts a scheduled flight each week with the Twin Otter aircraft to Juphal. Similarly, Tara Air, Summit Air and Makalu Air are conducting charter and cargo flight on a regular basis.
