Indo-Pak conflict affects incoming flights to Nepal via Pakistan airspace

The ongoing conflictual issues between Pakistan and India has created disturbance for aircraft arriving Nepal via Pakistani airspace. Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways’ flights have been affected.

Pakistan has restricted aircraft entering their airspace following Indian air route due to which the airlines coming to Nepal have been facing difficulties.

Despite such restrictions, Qatar Airways is conducting flights with alternative air route however, Turkish Airlines and Etihad Airways have halted their flights.

Qatar Airways flight departed late today following the restrictions from Pakistan government. Turkish Airlines’ aircraft is grounded at the apron while Etihad halted their incoming flight to Nepal.

General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Mr. Raj Kumar Chhetri informed that the airport authority is going to manage alternative air route soon. Qatar Airways has already conducted flights via alternative route so, other airlines will also be instructed to act accordingly, he added.
