Flight from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) is being operated at night.
In the past, the airport which has been operating international flight at night is currently conducting internal flights too at night.
Raj Kumar Chhetri, General Manager of TIA stated that domestic flights are being conducted till 9 pm every day from winter season.
He also said that arrangement of necessary equipment and manpower are made at regional hub airport and at international airport for night flights.
Runway lights, terminal building management and security arrangements have been done for conducting night flights.
Previously, the domestic flights were conducted from 7 am to 6 pm whereas international flights were conducted at night time.
According to the airport officials, the flight schedule for night flight of different airlines was approved on the second week of September.
Buddha Air’s 14 flights, Shree Airlines’ 4 flights and Yeti Airlines’ 7 flights were approved at night time.
TIA started 21 hours operations from May 21, 2018. The initiation has been taken to address the increasing air traffic and congestion at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
Parking capacity of TIA is also going to be increased soon as the parking bay under construction at East and South of the airport is expected to be completed soon.
The parking capacity will nearly double to current capacity as parking area at East is expected to come into operation within couple of months and parking at South to come into operation from April/May of 2019 stated Airport general manager Raj Kumar Chhetri.
Currently, 9 aircraft; 3 wide-body and 6 narrow-body aircraft can be accommodated at TIA international parking and with the construction of new parking bays, it will be able to hold around 13 international aircraft.
