US-Bangla urges to revise the crash report

US-Bangla has made objection on the investigation report of crash of one of its catastrophic aircraft BS211 crash in Nepal and has urged to make amendments on most of the issues.

The investigating committee provided the final report to Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari in accordance to ICAO Annex 13 and Civil Aviation (Accident Investigation) Regulation 2016 of Nepal on September of the US Bangla Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 with 71 on-board crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on March 12.

The report should have been made public within 60 days from the day of submission to the Minister but although more than 3 months have passed, the report has still not been published.

The airline has requested to revise most of the issues as presented in the report and as per investigation committee, the right to accept or reject the amendment is only with the investigation committee made under Government of Nepal.

The committee stated that all the response from all sectors including aircraft manufacturing company and the airlines have been included and the report will presented shortly discussing about factors to be included. The report will be referred to ICAO, Bombardier, US-Bangla and other parties stated the committee member.

The report stated that Captain of the flight Captain Abid Sultan suffered mental breakdown during times of flight and was in heated discussion with Co-pilot that resulted to crash. However, the airline has not accepted it and requested to amend some relating issues.

The aircraft manufacturer company Bombardier has also asked for minor amendments stated the member.

Bombardier Q400, Dash 8 aircraft of US-Bangla Airways, Flight number UBG 211 was on an approach to land at TIA, when it crashed in the Eastern part of the field of Runway 02, just outside the inner perimeter fence of the aerodrome. The aircraft was scheduled to arrive from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka, Bangladesh with 67 passengers and 4 crew members onboard to TIA, Kathmandu, Nepal. The aircraft crash caused total fatality of 51 people at the time of preparation of this report (09 April 2018). At the crash site, the aircraft was found mostly burnt and completely damaged as it caught fire that engulfed major portions of aircraft at the point of its resting.
