Former Prime Minister and senior leader Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist- Leninist) Madav Kumar Nepal has directed all the concerned to complete the construction work of Pokhara International Airport within timeframe.
After inspection of the progress of the construction of the airport, Former PM Nepal giving example that the development project of the country has been delayed, has urged to complete the construction work of Pokhara International Airport at the specified time without any excuses.
Sanjog Nepal, International Relations Committee of Federal Parliament and Tourism and Civil Aviation Study Monitoring sub-committee stated that the construction work of Pokhara International Airport is satisfactory and the work has been carried out in the aim of completing it within the specified time i.e. July 2021.
Leader Madav Kumar Nepal warned that the government will take action against wasting time and delay in completing work.
Bikash Lamsal, Minister for Industry, Tourism and Environment for Gandaki State stated that the state government has been closely observing at the construction work Pokhara International Airport and emphasized that the construction must be completed within timeframe in order to meet the aim of the government to attract 20 lakhs tourists in 2022.
Binesh Munakarmi, chief of Pokhara Airport informed the team of Former PM about the progress of overall project.
Currently, the construction work of Terminal building, taxiway, apron, drainage system is being carried out. According to the project, 17 percent pf physical progress and 12 per cent of financial progress has been achieved. Krishna Chapagai, Public Relation officer of the construction company said that more than 50 equipment and 200 laborers are working daily in the construction project. Similarly, the construction company said that the design of the project is ready and believed that Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) will approve the design with this month.
The construction work of the runway is being carried out in the aim of completing the work in 2019. Likewise the terminal building at 1400 meter squares will be constructed by July 2020. The runway of Pokhara International Airport will be 2500 meters long and 45 meters wide. International, national terminal building, 4 boarding room, taxiway and all infrastructures will be built.
The flight operation will be conducted from Pokhara to Beijing, Azerbaijan, Singapore and Doha. The design and construction work of 15 essentials structure including quarantine has proceeded ahead.
Around Rs 3 arba has been spent in land acquisition and NRs 500 Million has been spent for the road around the airport. The reports show that CAMC is working as per the planned schedule.
The construction project of the international airport was started with loan assistance of 22 billion from Exim Bank of China and Chinese company CAMC engineering was awarded for the contract of construction work.
