Flag carrier of Thailand, Thai Airways has sacked its 7 Nepali employees who have been accused and arrested for gold smuggling and murder case. The airlines issued a public notice in a national daily magazine stating dismissal of the employees who have been accused of involvement in smuggling 33 kg of Gold and murder of Sanam Shakya.
Airways have sacked Hemanta Guatam, Gopal Kumar Shrestha, Birendra Man Shrestha, Doram Khatri, Bal krishna Shrestha, Lal Bahadur Magar and Kapil Raj Puri implementing from September 21st as stated in the notice.
The accused are currently imprisoned and presented before court as per district court of Morang. The employees were sacked as per Labor Act 2074 which states any employees who have been imprisoned for 90 days or more can be discharged from their job.
Chudamani Upreti (Gorey) who has been identified as the leader of smuggling group have already been caught but the whereabouts of the gold is still unknown. He had managed to smuggle around 3800 kg gold from the airport since 2015 and the case got complicated after 2 other than Sanam Shakya lost their life and both being related to aviation industry namely Sanu Ban of Thai airways who was hit by fuel truck inside airport premise and Premlal Chaudhary committed suicide who was head loader of Nepal Airlines Corporation at TIA.
