Yeti Airlines, one of the leading domestic airlines in Nepal, has added third ATR 72-500 aircraft with registration ‘9N-ALN’ with MSN 776 to its fleet.
According to the Airline Officials, the aircraft landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 02:10 PM NST. The aircraft had departed from Francazal Airport at Toulouse, France and was en-route Egypt, Muscat in Oman and Kathmandu, as desired air route. Yeti Air expects to put its 3rd turboprop aircraft into commercial operation as soon as possible within a month. The flight crews and engineering team departed France on September 2, 2018, to take delivery of aircraft. The officials from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) were jointly in the team for receiving the additional aircraft.
After the addition of the third ATR 72-500 to its fleet, Yeti Airlines plans to extend its operations to Bhadrapur and Bhairahawa as well.
The airline had received second ATR 72-500 with registration ‘9N-AMM’ on September 15, 2017, whereas its first-ever ATR 72-212A series aircraft registered with ‘9N-AMN’ landed on July 22, 2017, in Nepal. The company has plans to add a total of 4 ATR72s within 2019 out of which one will be acquired in 2018.
ATR 72-500 series aircraft is environment-friendly which emits about 50% less CO2 per passenger-km than new-generation jets and up to three times less CO2 than older ones. ATR 72-500 compared to a car, its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per seat/km on a 200-Nm (370 km) sector are 15% lower.
The airline presently owns 6 BAE Jetstream 41 and 2 ATR 72-500 operating flights to Biratnagar, Pokhara, Bhadrapur, Bharatpur, Janakpur, Bhairahawa, and Nepalgunj along with mountain flights while its subsidiary Tara Air fleet includes two Dornier Do 228, three De Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter and one Viking Air DHC-6-400 Twin Otter operating flights to Simikot, Jomsom, Bajura, Jumla, Lukla, Phaplu Rara and so on.
