Japan and Korean team to assess NAC before granting flight approval

Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has called the Japanese team to talk about flight operation to Japan. The team is expected to arrive by next week to hold talks about further approval possibilities as air service agreement was revised recently, stated NAC Managing Director Sugat Ratna Kansakar.

The corporation has planned to operate to Narita airport for which 2 officials from Japan are expected to arrive in Nepal. NAC believes that they could operate flights to Japan from October.

The corporation has suspected that ban by European Union (EU) has led Japan not to allow flight from Nepal. Similarly, he also informed about the requirement of preparation of pilots as well as aircraft before they can operate.

A couple of months back, Nepal and Japan agreed on revising flight agreement for 14flights a week by Nepali carriers. The number of Nepalese in Japan is also very high and tourists from Japan coming to Nepal are also soaring.

Korea has also made various guidelines to allow NAC to operate to Korea and stated about coming to Nepal and checking NACs aircraft and passenger safety before allowing the flight operation. The Korean team has also been called by NAC for safety audit and ramp inspection of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

The national flag carrier of Nepal has already received the slot to operate to Tokyo in Japan and Incheon in South Korea but the authority of respective country has not provided international AOC (Air Operator’s Certificate).

CAAN has stated that as safety regarding aviation in Korea is very high, Korean officials will only allow operating after examining the aviation safety of Nepal. The Korean officials are willing to visit the country to examine the safety audit and have already sent audit guidelines.
