Simikot Airport resumed its operation after being closed for a certain period yesterday following Summit Air’s LET 410 incident at the active runway.
Summit Air’s LET-410 UVP-E20 “9N-AMH” met a malfunction during takeoff for its schedule passenger flight for Nepalgunj Airport from Simikot Airport at around 02:30 PM Local Time yesterday resulting in the closure of Simikot Airport.
According to Simikot Airport official, the engineering team was brought from Nepalgunj and the aircraft maintenance was completed at around 7 pm. The airport started it operation from today.
Simikot Airport located on Hilsa region encounters heavy air traffic in its airspace these days due to the rapid flow of pilgrims to the journey to Kailash Mansarover, one of the best trekking destinations in the remote western part of Nepal.
Simikot Airport at peak tourist season
