Buddha Air ATR 72 ‘9N-AMU’ begins commercial flight from 5th August

Buddha Air latest addition ATR 72 ‘9N-AMU’ flew from Kathmandu to Biratnagar yesterday for its first commercial flight. The additional ATR72 landed Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on 3rd July, 2018.

The aircraft has been added in aim of conducting timely-flights and maintenance of other aircraft when required without disrupting operations.

The 10.8 Year ATR 72-212A ‘9N-AMU’ was previously operated by Air Calédonie and later was sold to Kingfisher Airlines in India. ATR aircraft are considered cost-effective, environment friendly and less noisy as compared to other aircraft.

The company is making an investment of Rs 4 billion to purchase four ATR 72-500 series aircraft to extend their flight operation to different cities of India. At present, Buddha Air operates flights to Varanasi and also is preparing to initiate flights from Nepalgunj-Delhi and Kathmandu-Kolkata.

For two decades Buddha Air has been flying to domestic destination overtaking around 63% of market and also flights to Paro in Bhutan and Varanasi in India.

The airlines is providing services to Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa, Bharatpur, Simara, Janakpur, Biratnagar, Bhadrapur, Pokhara, Dhangadi and Tumlingtar from Tribhuwan International Airport. It is also conducting ‘Mountain Flights’. The airline also has one of the best workshop hanger in South Asia.
