Nepal Airlines’ 2nd A330 ‘Makalu’ to begin commercial flight in next few weeks

Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) second Airbus A330 ‘Makalu’ will be conducting commercial flights within a few weeks. According to Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), second Airbus does not have to operate “Proving Flights” as its nature is similar to the first one.

Rajan Pokharel, Deputy Director General of CAAN stated that the registration of the second A330 is only required for providing Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC).

Sugat Ratna Kanasakar, Managing Director of the corporation said that NAC has already paid custom duty charge of Rs 110 million and is preparing to conduct commercial flights very soon. He also informed that the process of hiring foreign pilots is going on for operating second Airbus A330. “Five foreign pilots have arrived at Kathmandu few days ago” Kansakar added.

The first Airbus A330 started its commercial flight to Doha from 1st August,2018.

The carrier’s international network includes routes from Kathmandu to Doha (Qatar), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Hong Kong, Bangkok (Thailand) and Dubai as well to Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai (India).
