Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has called for the quotation on Simulator Training Program for A330 wide-body aircraft from the prestigious training institutes. As per the corporation, a total of 36 cockpit crews will be participating in the simulator training.
The technical requirements of the simulator training institute includes KTM-Visual availability, RNP-AR and LVO, Latest simulator version, approved certificate from local civil aviation authority and FAA/EASA, Level D simulator and Engine Compatible (Rolls Royce Trent 700b).
NAC will be maintaining the agreement for two years from the date of signing. Pilot shortage has become an acute problem for the national flag carrier as it is preparing to hire more than 20 foreign pilots for the operation of A330.
The corporation may offer monthly pay packages of $18,000 for a foreign captain and $12,000 for co-pilot to fly its newly introduced wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft. Managing Director of NAC Sugat Ratna Kansakar said that it’s a temporary hiring until generating own pilots for which the corporation has intended to send 36 cockpit crews for the A330 simulator training.
The carrier has expected to grow up its annuity in international passenger movement by at least five percent with the addition of two new wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft and effective crew management is mandatory for it. The operational cost of the A330 at the first phase will be considerably high due to recruitment of foreign pilots and other operational staffs. So, NAC must produce own pilots as soon as possible to cut the loss.
