Air services at mountainous region disrupted due to adverse weather

Air services at the mountain region have been halted due to adverse weather and continous rainfall.

The flight operation has been halted in 7 internal destination following the bad weather and incessant heavy rains from Wednesday.

Prem Nath Thakur, Spokesperson of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) reported Aviation Nepal that Lukla Airport, Ramechhap Airport, Simikot Airport, Jumla Airport and Jomsom Airport have been out of operation from yesterday. The weather has particularly affected the airports at Mountain region whereas Nepalgunj Airport, Pokhara Airport of Terai Region is in operation.

He informed that even though the flights are halted in STOL route however the flights in Trunk route are in operation. Tribhuvan International Airport is not affected by the weather and is in normal operation, he added.

Previously, Lukla Airport resumed its operation in July 9, 2018 after remaining out of operation from past ten days (July 28) due to adverse weather. Air passengers and tourists are facing tremendous difficulty after the airports remain closed.

Due to continuous rainfall, many highways are also closed which is agonizing for the tourists. After both airways and roadway are closed, tourists are trapped.
