Ministry removes Shrestha from Aviation Experts’ ‘Think Tank Group’

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has removed Hari Bhakta Shrestha from the think tank group of Civil Aviation of Nepal.

According to the statement issued by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, the Ministry took a decision to this effect reacting to the news about Shrestha’s nomination for the post in the think tank.

“Such news about Shrestha’s nomination drew the attention of the Ministry. Today’s minister-level meeting took the decision to this effect,” reads the statement. Shrestha was appointed as an expert in Air traffic management (ATM) and air law.

Following Shrestha’s appointment, criticisms made the rounds referring his involvement in Lauda Air scam.

The Ministry had formed a ‘think-tank group’ on April 8, this year comprising civil aviation experts with the aim for improvement in domestic civil aviation industry to the government. Led by MoCTCA Minister, Rabindra Adhikari, the 20-member think-tank comprises of former aviation secretaries, civil engineers and officials from International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
