Satellite based IFR technology for Chandragadhi and Dhangadhi Airport

Flying to Chandragadhi Airport and Dhangadi Airport will be safer now as the two airports will use satellite technology for the landing and takeoff of aircraft from June 21, 2018.

IFR technology in these airport has already been installed as mentioned in the 100-days action plan of the Ministry for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) Mr. Rabindra Adhikari. Earlier, 5 airports along with Tribhuvan International Airport have been facilitated with IFR technology. Now, the number has reached to 7.

IFR technology have been installed in other airports like Bhairahawa airport, Biratnagar Airport, Simara Airport, Nepalgunj Airport. In Dhangadi and Chandragadhi, satellite based IFR technology has been implemented.

According to spokesperson of CAAN, Birendra Prasad Shrestha, the flight operation has already been started in day time at Chandragadhi Airport whereas in day and night time at Dhangadi Airport through IFR technology.

A team of officials including Director General of CAAN Sanjeev Gautam had visited the Chandragadhi of Jhapa and publicly informed about IFR technology.
