Rajbiraj airport to operate schedule flights from third week of June

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA), Mr. Rabindra Adhikari on May 24 (Yesterday) inaugurated the resumption of Rajbiraj airport in Saptari.

The airport has come into operation after closure of around one and a half decades in between the period of its establishment in 2016 B.S. Regular flights will take place from the first week of Asar (third week of June), said Minister Adhikari on the occasion.

He also directed Chief of Shree Airlines Sudhir Mittal to operate flights irrespective of passengers number required. Chairperson of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Upendra Yadav urged Shree Airlines to make regular flight even there is less number of passengers in the beginning.

He expressed the view that there would be drastic change in Saptari if there is regular flight as well as road linking Saptari to Indian markets is constructed.

Likewise, National Assembly member and former Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Jitendra Narayan Dev urged all people’s representatives to move ahead together for the development of the district.

Province Assembly member Manish Suman and Satya Narayan Mandal stressed for regular flight.

Similarly, Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Sanjeev Gautam, expressed happiness over completion of construction works of Rajbiraj airport on time. It was constructed at a cost of Rs 303 million of the government.

An aircraft of Shree Airlines on Wednesday conducted successful test flight at the airport, constructed in 2016 BS, after one and half decades.
