Locals request government for re-operation of Humde Airport, Manang

Local people of Manang have requested the government to operate Humde airport located at Manang district.

They urged for service saying no aircraft has been in operation although the airport up-gradation has already been done and criticized the government saying that they have not implemented the statement even though they have mentioned in budget statement to operate one airport in one district.

Social worker Sangdo Lama stated that the government has not operated the airport although they have made plan and program of the current fiscal year.
Locals and tourists have to suffer a lot due to the closure of Manang airport, he added.

According to local people, government have not shown any effort to operate the airport after spending millions of rupees for enhancement and blacktopping eight years ago. The airport at present is used as a motorbike training center and grazing field.

Locals of the mountainous district of Nepal- Manang were in joy as Summit Air’s LET L-410 landed in Humde Airport in the district after two years on December 4, 2017 however, it was just a charter flight.

As per the information, the airlines companies stopped the flights due to lack of passengers after the construction of road of Besisahar-Chamey and Chamey to Khangsar.
Manang is also the main hub of Annapurna Circuit Trekking route. The locals are facing tough times due to prolonged non-functioning airport and are demanding the airport to resume service as soon as possible.
