Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari has announced to initiate the expansion project of Janakpur Airport.
In press conference organized by Press Chautari Nepal on Tuesday, Minister Adhikari informed the plan has been set to conduct the flight operation with international standard at the Janakpur Airport.
He stated that the plan has made to upgrade the airport to make capable of conducting flights with bigger aircraft to Biratnagar, Dhangadi, Nepalgunj including different cities of India with international level air service.
“The terminal building of Janakpur airport will be in operation soon whereas the expansion work of the runway from 1300 meters to 1500 meters will be started and the IFR equipment will be installed in the coming year in the airport to conduct night flights,” he added.
He also said that the required land infrastructure has already been acquired and the compensation will be provided soon.

“For the development of tourism, we have already negotiated with the state 2 Minister Lalbabu Raut for the formation of legislation as soon as possible to establish tourism development committee”, he added.
Speaking about the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister Adhikari said that there has been a lot of discussions between the two countries and many of the talks came into conclusion.
He said that the relationship between Nepal and India have both economic and cultural importance. He added the construction of Ramayan circuit connecting Janakpur, Ayodhya, Bali of Indonesia and Sri Lanka will be further encouraged.
“Ramayan circuit will be completed only if the services related to the Airport, Road, connectivity are good,” he said.
Minister Adhikari said that not only Janakpurdham but Dhanusha Dham will also be connected to the Ramayan circuit. Further he said that he will execute every possible effort to list Janaki temple in the world heritage list.
