The national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is planning to introduce New York and London route after the arrival of two wide-body Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Managing Director for NAC Mr. Sugat Ratna Kansakar said in a press meet that the aim of the corporation is to conduct flights to London and New York after the arrival of wide-body jets.
Besides, the corporation has already announced to increase flight frequencies to major destinations like Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Doha. Also, it has planned to launch flight operation to four new long-haul routes namely Seoul (South Korea), Tokyo (Japan), Dammam (Saudi Arabia) and Sydney (Australia) after the arrival of A330s.
The corporation has already announced bidding notice for various international airports for ground handling service agreements and maintenance services.
Mr. Kansakar reported that the flights to New York will be easier than conducting flights to Lukla so, the core aim of NAC is to conduct flights to New York.
NAC is expected to take the delivery of one Airbus A330-200 wide body by the first week of June, 2018 whereas another A330 will be received after one month of the arrival of the first one.
According to the Corporation, the company has scheduled the arrival of second A330-200 after one month of arrival of first one at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) that is on mid of July.
As per the information, five members technical team of NAC is departing to France this week for inspecting the manufacturing of A330-200 aircraft.
The corporation has invested around 24 billion to purchase two new aircraft. According to the first installment, NAC had sent Nrs.8 billion to AAR Corporation and made agreement to take loan of 12billion each from Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Citizen Investment Trust. Remaining amount will be paid before the arrival of the aircraft.
