Biman Bangladesh aircraft Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 (same series of aircraft that crashed in Nepal); that took off to Syedpur from the Dhaka airport with 65 people on board on Tuesday returned to Dhaka after 40 minutes when the malfunction was detected mid-air, officials said.
Due to pressure in cabin, the aircraft returned to Dhaka. The airlines official told that later in night, they repaired the plane and started the operation.
The flight to Syedpur couldn’t be made due to obstacles and so the airline cancelled the flight whereas 74 passengers were waiting at Syedpur airport to catch the return flight. The airline general manager apologize the customer and promised to return the money.
While asked about the obstacles, the airline official said that the runway in Dhaka was not free when the aircraft was fixed and later when the runway became free the Syedpur Airport control tower officials expressed inability to receive the plane as their duty hours ended. But although after convincing the Syedpur officials to receive the flight, the passengers became irritated and declined to board it so the flight had to be cancelled.
On March 12, US-Bangla Airlines flight that crashed in Kathmandu was also a Dash 8-Q400 plane, manufactured by Canada-based Bombardier Inc.
