Emirates flight attendant opened the emergency exit and fell off the plane, sustaining serous injuries.
As been reported, the flight attendant opened the emergency exit door and jumped out of Emirates Boeing 777-300ER aircraft at Entebbe International Airport (Uganda) on 14 March 2018.
The aircraft with registration A6-EGU, flight EK730 was scheduled to depart Entebbe Airport to Dubai and was being prepared for departure, at 3:15 pm, local time, when one of the flight attendants opened the back door and jumped off the plane.
The exact cause of the incident was not clear, but some eye witnesses cited possible suicide as an eye witness said that she placed a glass bottle under her neck to have her throat sliced on impact with the ground to kill herself.
She was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital.
Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda has confirmed the incident and opened an inquiry. Emirates did not comment on the incident yet.
Emirates spokesperson said, “We can confirm that a member of our cabin crew unfortunately fell off from an open door while preparing the aircraft for boarding on flight EK729 from Entebbe on 14 March.
The injured crew member was brought to the nearest hospital. We are providing all possible support and care for the affected crew, and will extend our full co-operation to the authorities in their investigation.”
