Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has planned to procure two additional International Airport Aircraft Passenger Ramp Buses to enhance its service at its base Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu.
According to the officials from NAC, Ground Support Department today had made an announcement that any of the interested eligible Bidders may download the Bidding Documents for e-submission from PPMO’s web portal www.bolpatra.gov.np/egp. The final date of submission for the bid is April 25, 2018 by 17:00 hrs.
NAC on June last year had procured two European made COBUS 3000 model ramp bus from Germany with worth 10 crore Nepalese rupee. According to airlines, shortage of bus has been hindering smooth movement of passengers. Soaring passenger and aircraft traffic movement has led to TIA nearing saturation point, particularly with regard to parking and airspace.
Nepal Airlines is operating those buses for the passenger service to shuttle them from ramp to terminal building. The Ground handling of TIA has become the major source of income for Nepal Airlines. The national flag carrier has already made a profit of thirteen crore rupees during seven months of 2073/74fiscal year operation. “Income generated from TIA’s ground handling is the main source of profit for Nepal Airlines” reported a source.
NAC presently is a certified company of an ISAGO (IATA’s Safety Audit for Ground Operation) on March, 2017 from International Air Transportation Agency (IATA) after the carrier fulfilled the IATA Standard Requirements for Ground Operation. Till date, only 222 ground handling companies including Nepal airlines have been ISAGO certified by IATA.
