China made airplanes to arrive next week for NAC

The two new China-made airplanes (Y12E series) for state-owned Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) will arrive its base at Kathmandu on next week.

According to the highly placed source, the E-series of Y12, developed by Harbin Aircraft Industry Group, has already flown from China and will be landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) via Kunming, Burma and Calcutta.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has designated temporary Nepalese registration for the aircraft as 9N-AKV and 9N-AKU. The two small airplanes have received typical names of small birds such as “Maina” and “Chakhewa”.

The corporation had already dispatched a group of five technicians to inspect its Harbin Y12-e aircraft to Harbin, China on January 30, 2018 (Tuesday). The Corporation has also planned to add new destination to expand their domestic flight network service after the arrival of aircraft.

Similarly, the corporation had also added Xi’an MA-60 with 56 seats on Jan 26, last year produced by Xi’an Aircraft Industrial Corporation under the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has a registration of 9N-AKR.

The Corporation has also started work to buy at least four de Havilland Canada DHC-6 400 series Twin Otter aircraft. Further, NAC has planned to welcome its two wide-body aircraft within upcoming Baishak, 2075.

In November 2014, the Government of Nepal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to purchase six airplanes worth 4 million yuan as part of soft-loan and grant deal.
