Buddha Air, the airline operating domestics as well as international services is preparing to acquire four additional ATR 72-500 series aircraft to its fleet within the span of 2 years.
The company will make an investment of Rs 4 billion to purchase four ATR 72-500 series aircrafts to extend their flight operation to different cities of India. At present, Buddha Air owns 3 ATR 42-300, 5 ATR 72-500 and 2 Beechcraft 1900D.
Mr. Birendra Bahadur Basnet, Managing Director of Buddha Air said, “We are working insistently to increase our market share. That’s why we are making an additional investment of Rs 4 billion”.
“The first ATR out of 4 will arrive by June/July of this year and the other aircraft may take considerable time for arrival,” Mr.Rupesh Joshi, Marketing Director of Buddha Air reported to Aviation Nepal. Buddha Air is planning to operate flights to Kolkata, Dehradun and Gangtok of India in upcoming future. The airlines will submit an application to Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) for permission to add aircrafts on Sunday.
Recently, Buddha Air added ATR 72-500 ‘9N-AMF’ to its fleet on January 25, 2018.
Buddha Air, with an employee base of 850, occupies 63 per cent market share of domestic flights. Buddha air is currently operating its scheduled flights to 13 domestic destinations and operating mountain flights from Kathmandu and Pokhara Airport.
