Balewa Airport to resume service soon as technical study completes

A technical study has been conducted at Balewa Airport located in Baglung Municipality on 11 Magh, 2074. The agreement between Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the airlines company and the Baglung Municipality has scheduled to start operation from the first week of Chaitra, 2074.

The technical team of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has studied overall situation of Balewa Airport. In the study team, Manager Induraj Adhikari, Engineer Tara Kanta Shah and Maniraj Ojha were present. The authority has prepared necessary research with the conclusion to conduct the Balewa Airport after 26 years of closure.

Two weeks ago, the agreement between CAAN, airlines and Baglung Municipality stated a regular flight from the second week and according to same agreement, CAAN’s technical team started the technical study.

One of the member said, “We studied all over situation of the airport and we will submit the study report on Sunday”.

Baglung Municipality has agreed the agreement in the promotion of tourism and airlines business. As per the information, a team of authorization comes for technical studies of the airport within a week and the process further proceed with the technical study report prepared.

The report will take necessary decision at the suggestion of experts as well. The technical team has suggested the municipalities about preparing the infrastructure for immediate implementation.

The south eastward of the airport should be removed from the streets. Construction, repair, equipment and employee management of the airport is taken by authority.

Baglung Municipality will take responsibility for the construction of roads including roads to the airport and other infrastructure. Local administration will take security arrangement of the airport.

The flight to Baglung will make easy to view the natural, religious and historical scenario of the holy Kaligandaki River, Galika Bhagwati of Bagglung, Galeswarhhamam of Magdiei, Dhavagiri Himal and Muktingath Temple of Mustang, for the visitor and the visiting tourists there.

National flag carrier, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) and Tara Air will operate one flight each in a week.
