BB Airways finalizes purchase of NAC’s Boeing 757 ‘9N-ACA’

Nonresident Nepal (NRN), Chairman Bhawan Bhatta has finalized the purchase of NAC’s Boeing 757 ‘9N-ACA’ aircraft. Mr.Bhatta has bought the aircraft for Nrs. 146 million on previous week.

Boeing 757 which has flown for 86410 hours has been grounded for 2 years. BB Airways with intension of buying the aircraft had submitted a payment of 10 per cent of the total amount (Rs1.5 crore) on 13th of October 2017 promising thereby to fill the full payments within a week from the date.

NAC had decided to take up the advance after not being able to deposit the additional amount within 45 days but the full amount was paid one day before the ultimatum.

Bhatta who is investor of hotels, communications, brewery in Nepal, is also engaged in aviation sector. In September 2012, BB Airways had leased aircraft from Cambodia’s based Company and had started its scheduled flight from Kathmandu to Malaysia but after the expiry of the lease the flight stopped.

According to the company source, the aircraft will be repaired and will be flying internationally. Rs 50 million is expected for its repair of landing gear and engine and it would take around 4 to 5 months to begin its schedule flights.

An official said that the recently bought aircraft will begin its flight after the registration is changed to BB airways. The airline is planning its flight to Delhi, Bangkok, Malaysia and Doha. The company is also planning to purchase another aircraft very soon and will be adding its destinations to Japan, Korea etc.
