Summit Air (Former Goma Air), the solo airline company whose hub is Nepalgunj has planned to recommence its schedule flights to Dang (Tarigaun) Airport in coordination with Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan Municipality to serve the residents at Dang District.
An official Mr. Bishnu Dulal from Summit Air confirmed that the airline have been planning to resume service from the first week of coming January. He also added that the plan includes two flights per week at the first phase and progressively increasing the number of flights on coming days. The flights will be scheduled as one flight for Sunday and Friday to the Dang sector. The company has allocated Nrs.6800 and Nrs. 7200 for Kathmandu to Dang flights.
Previously, Dang Airport was closed since 7 years due to gravel runway and lack of oil depot but on May 28, 2015 the Summit Air has inaugurated its flight to Dang (Tarigaun) Airport with its LET 410-UVP E20 aircraft. Since Last year the airline was unable to conduct its flight on the Dang Sector was shut down due to various reason, said official.
Currently, Summit Air has two Cessna Grand Caravan registered as 9N-AJT and 9N-AJU as well as four LET410 UVP-E20 on its fleet.
Dang (Tarigaun) Airport is located in western Nepal at an elevation of 634 m./2080 ft. above mean sea level. The airport has Bituminous Paved (Asphalt Concrete) runway with its dimension of 750 m x 30 meter aligned to 160 degrees and 340 degrees. The airport currently has three parking bay which can accommodate the STOL aircraft like Dornier D228, DHC6 Twin Otter, LET L410, Harbin Y12e and Cessna Grand Caravan C208.
