Emirates and Flydubai announces partnerships with codeshare agreement

Emirates airline has declared “partnership” with its sister company Flydubai and will codeshare its network services in 29 destinations across three continents operated by Flydubai.

According to a statement on Monday, Emirates assumed that the codeshare agreement will begin from October 29. Passengers can book from October 3 through Emirates.com or travel agents but traveling will begin from October29 reaching more destinations easily, regularly and quickly.

“This is an exciting first step in unlocking the benefits of the partnership for passengers who will have the opportunity to enjoy the unique advantages. Each of the airlines offers greater choice and flexibility when connecting via Dubai. This is just the start and when we expand the partner network in the coming months we will open up more opportunities for our passengers to explore the world.” said, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Group and Chairman of Flydubai

The new partner network is working to deliver unique opportunity and services to its passengers with great choices and flexibility.  Both Emirates and Flydubai will offer greater services and easier access to more destinations with the facilities of connecting baggage to the final destinations.  When booked together as a part of code share, Emirates passengers will receive complementary meals and the Emirates checked baggage allowance on flight operated by Flydubai in both Business and Economy Classes.

“The biggest benefit the two airlines can achieve will be to develop network complementarily, reducing some current duplication and providing new customer itineraries,” independent aviation consultant John Strickland told Reuters.

By 2022, the combined network of Emirates and Flydubai is predicted to reach 240 destinations with a combined fleet of 380 aircraft.

The two companies activate independently under separate management system but are owned by the same entity, The Investment Corporations of Dubai (ICD) which is state-owned sovereign wealth fund of the Sheikhdom in the United Arab Emirates. Emirates don’t have any airplanes smaller than Boeing 777 so it can put some of the passengers on Flydubai which flies Boeing 737.

“This partnership isn’t about savings, it’s about extracting commercial value by leveraging the strengths of both companies to accelerate growth,” representatives from the airlines said.

Long-haul carrier Emirates and low-cost carrier Flydubai will also develop their hub at Dubai International Airport aligning airport systems and operations to ensure great travel experience through the world’s busiest airport for international travel.
