Qatar Airways secures two awards at the Future Travel Experience Global 2017

After winning “Airline of the Year 2017”, Qatar Airways has received ‘Best Up In The Air Experience’ award for the third consecutive year and the “Best Baggage Initiative” award at the Future Travel Experience Global 2017(FTE Global). The award ceremony was held last week in Las Vegas.

Future Travel Experience Global 2017 (FTE Global) is one of the leading travel conferences worldwide, where representatives of airlines, airports and other travel industry stakeholders meet to demonstrate and discuss their latest customer experience initiatives. The award was presented by Joe Leader who is a Chief Executive Officer of Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) whose organization is a major partner of FTE Global.

The ‘Best Up In The Air Experience’ award recognizes the airline’s ground breaking new Business Class seat, Q-suite. Q-suite has modernized the onboard Business Class experience which makes passengers to have privacy by the help of sliding solitude doors that allow colleagues, friends, or families travelling together. It can form their own private room, enabling them to work, dine or meet people together, as well as fully-flat beds, a do-not-disturb button and generous storage space. Qatar Airways is the first airline to offer a bed in Business Class.

The airline was also presented with the ‘Best Baggage Imitative’ award for its baggage management system, HAQIBA.

HAQIBA system is developed in-house to manage all baggage-related activities across Qatar Airways. It has also enabled the airlines to achieve IATA Resolution 753 compliance at its Doha hub.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, said: “We are delighted to have received the ‘Best Up In The Air Experience’ award for the third consecutive year. We are also very pleased to be the first airline to achieve compliance with IATA resolution 753, and are extremely proud that FTE Global has recognized HAQIBA. These latest awards demonstrate our commitment to continuous innovation in order to provide our passengers the finest in-flight experience in the sky and on the ground. We are thrilled to have received these coveted awards from an organization that shares our commitment to delivering nothing short of the best.”

Previously, Qatar Airways also grabbed the award for achieving 2016’s highest export tonnage out of Nepal at the twenty-third Nepal Cargo Day celebrations organised by the Nepal Freight Forwarders Association (NEFFA) in Kathmandu. The annual awards honour the top three carriers for their roles in supporting the country’s exports. This is the ninth time that Qatar Air Cargo has been recognised for uplifting the highest tonnage out of Nepal,  where more than 25 international carriers operate.
